Writing, Pandemic, and Animal Crossing New Horizons
I think the first step to fixing any problem is admitting to said problem.
A person can’t move forward until they address the issues. I have a problem.
I am a procrastinator.
I have always lived by the mantra of “Never do today what you can put
off until tomorrow.” But there is a problem with that. Finally, you just get to
the part where you’re so bogged down that you can never seem to find your way
back up.
It would be easy to blame my lack of writing on stress from this COVID,
and while I have had stress, I don’t’ think it’s from that. I don’t know about
you, but when we’re self-isolating up here it seems that the world is “normal.”
When you stay to yourself, you get complacent. And while the news was filled
with reports on new cases, supply shortages, and deaths, being in my home, I
could put it all out of my mind and focus—dwell—on what was my main source of
stress—my daughter’s high school graduation.
But it doesn’t matter. I still keep putting things off, and now I’m
thinking I’ve wasted months wallowing in despair inside of being productive. I
hate regrets. I try not to have them as it’s not like they help; you can’t
change the past. But I do regret this.
So starting tomorrow, the writing starts in earnest. My problem tends to
be that I have too many ideas going through my head at one time. I can’t narrow
them all down. I want to write on everything at once, but since I can’t, I end
up not writing on anything. I need to focus.
You might be wondering what I’ve been focusing on during self-isolation,
well that would be Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Yes, I know, believe me I do. But as someone who has played the last
three versions of the game, I have to say that I really do enjoy it. And since I
do enjoy it, I’m putting up my own Animal Crossing guide. I’ve searched
for things online, but I always end up finding mistakes—I am in no way saying I
am perfect. I do feel though that everyone rushed to get stuff put up so the
only way to have a complete guide is to time jump.
Me, I just want to enjoy the game. My guide is in no way complete as I
haven’t timed jump. I just take things as they come, but I’m trying my best to
actually get everything complete. It will happen, just in the appropriate amount
of time!
I’m going to go finish up on that, so I can get back to my writing. I
have a book completed. I will probably look into self-publishing that in July. I
hope you look forward to it!
